BIOS repair and reprogramming
Corrupt or incorrect BIOS data can prevent a computer from starting normally, produce no display or stop the system very early in the startup process.
Diagnostic inspection 5,000 ISKFurther pricing depends on the type of repair and is confirmed before paid work continues.
When can BIOS be the cause?
- The computer powers on but does not complete startup.
- No display appears even though the device seems to receive power.
- The problem appeared after a BIOS update or interrupted update.
- Firmware or settings are corrupt and normal recovery does not work.
Diagnostics and reprogramming
- BIOS is not reprogrammed blindly. The symptoms and measurements are first assessed to determine whether BIOS is a realistic cause.
- Where appropriate, the BIOS chip is read, the firmware is checked and the chip is reprogrammed.
- Other motherboard faults can produce similar symptoms, so BIOS cannot be confirmed as the cause before diagnostics.
If BIOS is not the cause, deeper motherboard diagnostics may be needed because power and component faults can produce similar symptoms.
Pricing
- Initial diagnostic inspection: 5,000 ISK.
- Further work is 5,000 ISK per hour and is only carried out after customer approval.
- If the work becomes a board-level motherboard repair, motherboard-repair pricing applies.
