Examples of motherboard faults

• The device does not power on or accept charge.
• Short circuit or abnormal current draw on a power rail.
• Faults in charging circuits, MOSFETs, controllers or other components.
• BIOS or firmware prevents normal startup.
• Corrosion or damage after liquid exposure.
• Damage to connectors, solder joints or PCB traces.

Similar symptoms can also be caused by BIOS faults, USB-C or charging-circuit faults or liquid damage, which is why diagnosis comes first.

Diagnostics first

• Voltage, resistance and power rails are checked according to the symptoms of the fault.
• If component-level repair is realistic, the customer is informed before further paid work is carried out.
• A successful motherboard repair cannot be guaranteed before the fault has been diagnosed.

Pricing

• Initial diagnostic inspection: 5,000 ISK, including up to one hour of diagnostics.
• If motherboard repair is approved, the motherboard-repair charge is 7,500 ISK and includes the first hour of motherboard repair work after diagnostics.
• Additional motherboard repair time beyond that first repair hour is 5,000 ISK per hour.
• Example: a three-hour job consisting of one diagnostic hour, one motherboard-repair hour and one additional repair hour totals 17,500 ISK before parts.
• Parts and special materials are extra where applicable.
