Sometimes the fault comes down to a single damaged component, connector or circuit. With proper measurements and diagnostics, a board can often be repaired instead of replacing the entire motherboard.
That is why the repair starts by finding the cause, not by replacing parts unnecessarily.

Short answers to the most important questions about pricing, data, repairs and drop-off.
Yes. The initial diagnostic inspection costs 5,000 ISK and covers the inspection and diagnostic work performed, including when the conclusion is that repair is not possible or not economical. No further paid work is carried out without approval.
No. Not every device can be repaired, and diagnostics are not a promise of a successful repair. The extent of damage, previous repair attempts and parts availability can all affect the outcome.
General further diagnostics and repair work are 5,000 ISK per hour. Motherboard repairs are priced separately: 7,500 ISK after the diagnostic fee, including the first hour of motherboard repair work. Any additional motherboard repair time is 5,000 ISK per hour. No further paid work or parts are carried out without approval.
If the issue involves charging, power or the battery, bringing the charger is very helpful. It is usually best to leave unnecessary accessories at home.
TölvuLab only accesses data to the extent reasonably necessary for the requested service and testing. Data preservation or recovery cannot be guaranteed, especially when storage is already failing. Back up important files whenever possible.
It depends on the fault, diagnostic scope and parts availability. Completion times are therefore estimates unless specifically confirmed otherwise.
Turn the device off, disconnect the charger and avoid repeatedly trying to power it on. The sooner it can be inspected, the better.
No. Contact TölvuLab first by enquiry, message or phone and wait for the drop-off time to be confirmed. A confirmed time has a ±15 minute arrival window. If you will be more than 15 minutes late, please contact TölvuLab because a new time may need to be arranged.
Payment is generally due when the device is collected unless otherwise agreed. The initial 5,000 ISK diagnostic fee and any other approved work or parts are charged according to what has been approved. The available payment method is confirmed at collection.
Contact TölvuLab as soon as reasonably possible. We will assess whether the issue is a defect in the previous service or a new or unrelated fault. If the previous service is defective, the customer's statutory rights apply, including the right to a remedy where required by law.
Yes, by prior agreement. TölvuLab may decline a part that appears incorrect, incompatible or unsafe. TölvuLab remains responsible for its own workmanship under applicable law, but cannot guarantee the quality, compatibility or lifespan of a part supplied by the customer.
